SERVICES

Mid-Atlantic DOGS provides professional search and rescue dog teams at no charge for our specialized services to official agencies. We serve the Mid-Atlantic USA.

We can provide K9 teams for the following:

Air Scent Search: An air-scenting search K9 is trained to scan the air currents for the scent of a human being, locate the source of the scent, and indicate it to the handler. The dog is not restricted to the missing person’s track and can search effectively after the track has been obliterated. Air scent dogs can work well in areas that have been “contaminated” by previous searchers. They can search day or night in most kinds of weather, including rain and snow. In addition to wilderness and undeveloped tracts, the dogs can be effective in rural or suburban areas. They can search groves of trees, overgrown vacant lots and fields, abandoned buildings, junkyards, and city parks. They are especially effective where human sight is most limited – in the dark, in dense woods, heavy brush, or debris.

Human Remains Detection (HRD): Often referred to as “cadaver dogs,” HRD K9s are trained to recognize and  pinpoint human decomposition in order to assist authorities in recovering human remains. HRD specialties include Land, Crime Scene, and Water (shoreline or from a boat).

We do NOT chase bad guys, look for people with guns, respond to family requests (requests through law enforcement agencies only, please).

We do NOT search for missing pets! We suggest https://dogsfindingdogs.com/

OUR MISSION:

To provide continuing training and education for the dogs; their handlers and support personnel; to improve and develop capabilities to ensure competent and capable search teams and operations.

To promote greater appreciation of SAR resources.
